The Marin DIG FM group started off the new year with a presentation by Oakgrounds own, Ward Bouwman, on Multiple Relationships within Tables & Gaining Access to Users' Google… Accounts

Working with relationships
(medium skill level)

Example: We put ‘students' in ‘groups'. But what happens when some of the students are in multiple groups?

This is a common scenario: One doctor sees many patients; an one patient sees multiple doctors. One author writes many books; one book can be written by many authors. One student can take many classes; one class has many students.
We look at these relationships between tables. From basic one to one, to the multiple to multiple relationships with a ‘junction’ or ‘joined’ table.
Once we input the ‘students’, we  will evaluate how to best list the 'group mates’ for each student.

If you not an Filemaker expert yet, this presentation is for you.

OAuth2FM
(medium/advanced skill level)

One of the many strengths of database designs is the ability to pull in information from other databases. For instance, a user can give you access to their FaceBook page, their google images, or a dropbox folder. To gain access, these web-services provide an Application Programmers Interface or API. A common way these services allow access is through Oauth2 authorization.

We examined how the OAuth2 protocol works and how Jim Randell’s OAuth2FM facilitates access to a google user account.
